What is Cold Laser Therapy?

What is Cold Laser Therapy?
Explained by Our West Hartford Chiropractor

Our chiropractors, serving West Hartford, Simsbury, Avon, Canton, Hartford, Bloomfield, Farmington, Glastonbury and Newington, offer cold laser therapy, which is often referred to as low-level laser therapy (LLLT). LLLT is used for the treatment of soft tissue injuries and to reduce inflammation, swelling, pain and immobility by increased metabolism of the cell. Through this activity, it increases the cell’s ability to generate more energy, regenerate new tissue, and increase in blood flow and new tissue formation, thus accelerating the healing process.

Class 3, Class 4 and Class 5 Lasers for the Surrounding Communities of West Hartford, Simsbury, Avon, Canton, Hartford, Bloomfield, Farmington, Glastonbury and Newington

Medical lasers are typically classified as either Class 3 A or B or Class 4. Class 3A and 3B lasers are considered low-level and non-surgical. They do not have the power to cut or burn skin and are typically used for therapeutic purposes.

Class 4 lasers are considered to be any laser with a power level above 500 milliwatts. The higher powered Class 4s are used for deep non-surgical tissue repair. There is not currently a class 5 laser, but if there were, it would likely have a higher power designation than a Class 4.

Conditions and Injuries Treated with Low level Laser Therapy

Low level Laser Therapy (LLLT) is effective in many conditions such as headaches, back pain, neck pain, shoulder pain, knee pain, ankle pain, arm pain, wrist pain, and jaw pain (TMJ syndrome). LLLT even provides quick treatment for obtuse ulcers, cold sores, and acne with only a few treatments needed. LLLT is also effective at treating sports, car accident and repetitive motion injuries. Our chiropractors use LLLT to treat whiplash, sprains and strains, tennis elbow, carpal tunnel syndrome, frozen shoulder, Achilles tendinitis, and arthritis, as well as other types of soft tissue injuries.

Laser Therapy Treatments with our Chiropractors for Injury and Pain Relief

Laser therapy is used by our chiropractors for tissue repair, accelerated healing, and pain relief. Through this therapy, our chiropractors can help reduce pain, lower inflammation and provide pain relief by exponentially advancing the healing of your tissue thus your injury. It works by increasing the metabolism of the cell and tissue to increase tissue regeneration, cellular repair and energy formation. While chiropractic adjustments are the fastest and most important way to reset the nervous system, modalities such as Cold Laser Therapy and LLLT can be used alongside chiropractic adjustments, EMS, intersegmental traction, and acupuncture as well as other treatments in order to reduce your recovery time.
