If you're suffering from an acute or chronic soft tissue injuries such as lower back pain, neck pain, upper back pain, jaw pain (TMJ syndrome), headache, shoulder pain, knee pain, ankle pain, and even reoccurring cold sores, sinus infections, or other conditions affecting the nerves, muscles, joints, and ligament, you're probably looking for a safer and more effective treatment method than the temporary relief painkillers provide and without chemical. Here at West Hartford Chiropractic, our chiropractors may have exactly what you need in the form of cold laser therapy. This therapeutic modality uses amplified light to help your body heal itself more effectively while reducing pain and other discomfort without drugs.
Cold laser therapy, also known as low-level laser therapy or LLLT, is very different from surgical laser techniques. While a surgical laser burns through and vaporizes tissue, a low-level laser does not hit or burn the tissue thus not leaving a mark or doing any damage whatsoever. Cold laser Therapy affects the energy production mechanism of the cell to increase cellular activity, energy production, cell nutrition, and thus helps heal the tissue and regenerate new healthy tissue. Its real target lies beneath the skin - the injured, inflamed or otherwise ailing tissues that are causing you pain, stiffness and other problems. Cold laser therapy addresses the underlying cause rather than numbing the pain.
In a phenomenon called photobiostimulation, the energy from the cold laser triggers the body to produce more adenosine triphosphate, or ATP. ATP is a major "fuel source" for cell repair, enabling damaged tissues to repair themselves more quickly and efficiently. The laser energy also relaxes muscles, allowing for better blood circulation and edema drainage at the treatment site to reduce your pain and inflammation. The overall metabolic activity at the treatment site can be boosted by up to 150 percent using this technique.
Our chiropractors offer two different types of cold laser therapy. Class 3 cold laser therapy penetrates the surface of the skin to treat superficial wounds and inflammatory problems. Class 4 cold laser therapy can treat deeper tissue injuries and chronic problems to provide significant pain relief as well as healing. Both types of cold laser are completely painless; in fact, you may enjoy a relaxing feeling of warmth. Our chiropractors use a small handheld device to direct the laser over the area in need of treatment, usually for only a few minutes per session.
Cold laser therapy is so safe that you can schedule as much necessary sessions to help your tissue healing, decrease pain and accelerate the healing process without fearing pain, discomfort, or other side effects typical to the usage of many medications, pharmaceutical chemicals, or surgery. Some of the many conditions treated by this versatile technique includes:
In some cases patients see us following an extensive exam for cold laser therapy alone if other modes of care are not possible due to the nature of their condition, age, and other factors. Our chiropractors are proud to provide cold laser therapy for West Hartford, Simsbury, Avon, Canton, Hartford, Bloomfield, Farmington, Glastonbury and Newington residents.
